Waiting for an X-ray in the Swiss Doctors surgery and i turn around and look at the wall... it has a lot of scary things on it. The scariest of them all was the drill with the saw on it... bloody Swiss...

pop up tent
With the Scouts off to Switzerland next week, we needed a new tent for one of our leaders. I couldn't help but suggest and eventually tracked down a nice new pop up tent!
It is pretty sweet and yes, its it does pop up once you open it. It took me a while to get the hang of folding it up again, with several attempts ending up with a complete pitched tent again!
Have a look at the video here

next purchase
I have decided I need a new camera. My old one, dating back to the late 2003 is grand and all, but I need something with a bit more... umph!
Mind you my HP Photosmart 735 has done good these last 2 ½ years. Back in the day it wasn't too shabby at all, and i got it at a nice price as well, under €200 if i can remember. The one bad thing about it is the battery life, but i got over that fairly fast by buying rechargeable ones! Duh!
Any ideas?

who said that
I'm back again... from what I'm going to call sabbatical. (or have I used that excuse already?) A month in Kandersteg, Switzerland will do funny things to you!! Altho I really liked the newly installed WiFi there! It encouraged me to be online, it's a pitty it didn't have any affect on my blogging urge! I will post a few posts about the previous month when I get around to it.
For now, I'm enjoying the easy life! Nothing much to do for now except get ready for Camp on the 20th! 10 days... feck!
Talk to you when I have some interesting things to say... eh?

the wedding
It all went off without a hitch, except for my cousin Barry giving out the wrong flowers to the groomsmen and female members of the grooms family!! But all was sorted in the end. Oh and the weather was shite. It rained all day and it was rotten. When you book your wedding for the 8th of July, you kinda expect at least a sunny day!
I also got to wear my new suit today as well. Doesn't he look well?
Modern technology eh?

One of my Beavers dropped over a present for me to say thank you for putting up with him for the year :oP It is a cactus!
It goes down as one of the weirdest presents I have received off a Beaver Scout! Thanks :o)

finished!
Got my Exam results today!
From now on you shall refer to me as Mr. Darran BBSinIS, or is that too long? I have a Bachelor of Business Studies in Information Systems Degree, but I'm not sure of the letters behind my name... Must ask around...
But yeah, the news is good, got a 2:1, which as I learnt is not very international as many people have said wha? You got what? Basically its a second class honors!
Yay me... No more College/University/3rd Level Education!

whazzup!
Posts have been put on hiatus for a while. I have been hanging out with friends and what not. Finding out that people have been reading my blog. Not that they are regular readers or anything, but they know that there is a Langers Blog out there and I post messages to it now and then.
The next week should be interesting. I'm just going to be hanging out here and not getting much done. Just waiting for my exam results on the 20th (I think...) so I can in theory update my CV and start looking for jobs.... That's all after Canada! (Of course...)
The weather has been beautiful last week, but this weekend has been pitiful! Ha!
Contemplating whether or not go head down the pub now, I know its late but sure it's summer... Nearly anyway...
Catch you on the flip flop!

ga cratestacking
Marthine and myself were the only two who wanted to go crate stacking, so we got Rachel out and down to set up for us! There is the proof that Marthine successfully did 22 crates!

road trip
Just home from our Road Trip. Last week we decided we had nothing to do for the weekend and beyond, so the most logical thing to do is go on a Road Trip!
You can download see the Route with Google Earth with this file: File [right click, save as]
We started here in Cork, went to towards Sligo, The Giant's Causeway next and then back to Kerry and then home! Over the 4 days, according to the GPS which i had on when traveling, we covered 1444km, just under 24hours moving and nearly 8 hours stopped. Max speed was 140km/h and average moving speed of 61.7km/h!!
Here are some of the Photos!

radio shake up
RTÉ have announced yesterday about the new autumn cabinet re-shuffle. Big changes coming to both Radio One and 2fm (I'm still refusing to call it RTÉ 2fm) I'm not surprised considering the recent news about the drop in listener ship figures.
So what does this mean to 2fm? (I really couldn't care less about Radio One, I'm not that old yet)
Current state of 2fm: Old man Dave Fanning is on for about an hour and a half at 6, followed by NewsBeat for half an hour and then one of those Nikki Hayes for 2 hours and then Rick O'Shea for 2 hours till Mid-Night. Its all very confusing and feels rushed.
Basically they made their evening and night time programmes more simpler.
New line up: What they will be doing from now on is 2 DJ's, Rick from 6to9 and Damien Farrelly 9to12. Rick O'Shea seem happy about this news, altho he is being moved again from his night time play what he likes to a more main stream post drive time slot. Nikki then replaces Damien in the afternoon.
So they got rid of Dave Fanning. I think think they might be onto something here. Altho I still see the fact that Marty Dry Arse Whlean is still on in the morning. I don't like that man. Maybe suited to 2fm in the 80's, but not now. Worst Breakfast Show EVER.
