go ireland

As everyone who knows me knows I'm no Sports Head. But today Ireland played trashed England in the Six Nations at Croke Park. The score: 43-13!

You can watch the news stories about the Match here. It is a shame that both the BBC and RTÉ aren't streaming the live match to people outside Ireland and the UK. There are no pubs showing the match here in Whistler. Not even the worst Irish Pub in the World! Bastards!

This is the second Rugby match to be held at Croke Park. RTÉ did a nice programme on the opening of the GAA Stadium.

This specially commissioned half-hour programme celebrates the moment when Ireland unites in sport as the Irish rugby and soccer teams play in Croke Park for the first time.

Watch it here.

  1. Actually RTE was streaming the games (all of them).

You're out of luck trying to see 6 nations tournament while in Canada (I lived there for 6 years).

The game was great. But the moments before the game, when English team entered the stadium and when first the band played God Save The Queen and no one was booing, the tears in the eyes of Irish players (one cannot easily see 100+ kgs rough and tough guys crying), these moments were somethings I never encountered.

  2. I know RTÉ were streaming all the games. There website looks really good after the face lift, and they are streaming a lot of content. But as I am in Canada, they wont allow us stream live feeds. We tried Proxies and everything, but couldn't get a work around.

I saw a few of the videos on you tube showing them playing it alright. I haven't seen a proper video yet. They are all just guys with cameras and camera phones. It's a once in a lifetime moment!

Hi there Darran, I'm Canadian and I've read your blog. I didn't think there was anyone else out there with the last name Gurr from Ireland. That's supposed to be where my grandfather's grandfather's family came from before they went to the states and then Canada. I hope you're having lots of fun out there in Whistler and that the weather is good! I live in Calgary, and I'm currently doing my master's degree in cultural anthropology. YOu should check out myspace and leave me a message or something. Take care!

  4. Hey Vanessa! Thank you for reading my Blog! I have never heard of a Gurr from Ireland!! My Second name isn't Gurr I'm afraid. I only use it in my Blog for posts I am annoyed with and make me go Gurrrrr! Like the sound you make when you shake your fist!

After some research I realise that I should be using 'grrr' instead of 'gurr'. I was trying to express this emotion! At least now I know, and will change my labels!! Sorry I couldn't help you, and I hope your search for a Gurr gets you some results!
